Historical Facts & Events In April

april : Historical Events

The name April has been derived from the word “aperire”, Latin for “to open”. The nomenclature is apt since this is the month when the earth seems to welcome the warmth of the long-awaited summer with open arms. This month is also special since it is one of those few that have only thirty days.

It was King Romulus who had first decided that April would have thirty days. April, or Aprilis is considered to be the month of Roman goddess Venus or her Greek equivalent, Aphrodite. This could also be why the month has been named so.
