Historical Facts & Events In June

june : Historical Events

The month of June has found its appellation in the name of Jupiter’s wife, Juno. Since Juno is the Goddess of Marriage, the Romans consider this month to be the most auspicious for any blissful union. Juno, the queen of the gods, has been depicted as a graceful, tall woman, with a peacock as her companion.

The sixth month of the calendar is significant since places in the Northern Hemisphere experience the longest days and the regions in the South face the shortest days. Thus this unique month serves as winter as well as summer in polar opposite ends of the world.
